Lab Members

 Steve Beighley  

Graduate Student, Steve joined the lab in August, 2011.

Steve earned his MA in Neurophilosophy from Georgia State University in 2011 and his BA in both Neuroscience and Philosophy from the University of Delaware in 2009.

Research interests include: spatial cognition, scene perception, visual memory, mental rotation and the neural foundations of these abilities.

  Erica Kreindel   

Graduate Student, Erica joined the lab in August, 2011.

She received her BA in Psychology from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in May, 2009 where she did an Honors Thesis with Dr. Kyle Cave. She then spent 2 years as a Research Assistant working with Drs Jeremy Wolfe and Todd Horowitz at Brigham & Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School.

Research interests include: scene perception, visual memory, developmental and individual differences in mental representation of space, source monitoring, and eye tracking. Research with preschool children is conducted at the Univeristy of Delaware Early Learning Center (http://www.elc.udel.edu/).

Sarah Tornetta


Independent Study Student, Sarah joined the lab in August, 2012 and was accepted into the the Yale Cognition and Development Lab Summer Internship Program for the summer of 2013.

Independent Study Student, Emma joined the lab in August, 2012 and graduated from UD June 2013.

Independent Study Student, Rebecca joined the lab in August, 2012 and graduated from UD January 2013..

Danielle DeRiggi

Undergraduate RA, Danielle joined the lab in September, 2010.

Danielle has been involved on projects exploring the impact of sound effects on spatial memory for visual scenes.  She is currently studying the effects of re-oriented scenes over brief presentations.

Danielle will be graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, with minors in Black American Studies, Education, and Human Development and Family Services, in May 2012. She is planning on attending graduate school to obtain her Master of Science in Occupational Therapy, and pursue a career as an Occupational Therapist.

   Nicole Gazin   

Independent Study Student, Nicole joined the lab in August, 2011.

Nicole has been involved in projects that test memory for 3D scenes. She is currently studying the effects of rotation in perception and memory of 3D scenes.

Nicole will be graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, with a minor in Italian, in May 2012. She is also President of the UD chapter of Psi Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology. She is interested in the intersection of law and psychology, and after graduation plans to earn a dual degree, a J.D. in Law and Ph.D. in Psychology.

Amanda Mouser

Undergraduate Research Assistant. Amanda joined the lab in February 2012.

She is involved in projects that test developmental differences in scene representation.

Kristin Michod Gagnier

Kristin was a graduate student in our lab and received her PhD in January, 2011. She is now a Postdoctoral Fellow, Spatial Intelligence Learning Center & Department of Psychology at Temple University.

Christopher Dickinson Post-Doctoral Researcher (NIMH), January 2005-August 2008.  Areas of interest include:  scene perception, eye movements, visual search, memory and attention.

Shanna Delaney

Undergraduate RA, Shanna joined the lab in September, 2008. 

Shanna has worked on many different projects in the lab, but her main focus has been on scene representation following haptic exploration.

Undergraduate RA (NIMH).  Loren is a sophomore majoring in Cognitive Science with a concentration in Speech Pathology.
